The story, the finds and the legends

Kaia Laur, who joined the association recently and for whom the outing on 11 March was the first and definitely not the last EBÜ outing, looks back:

“I had heard the good comments on previous similar events from the experienced drivers. They said that the outings are usually organised so that the people who are behind the wheel every day can learn something new and interesting and then relax a bit.
For the crowd, Tuesday morning began with waiting for a historic bus at the Tallinn bus station. The fact that just day before a historic Ikarus Lux had been moved around in the bus park only added excitement. The Scania from Tartu that arrived instead was somewhat disappointing. But we did not let our spirits go down, unexpected things go hand in hand with vintage technology.

According to our programme, we first drove to the Seaplane Harbour where we visited the Titanic exhibition with a guide and the permanent exhibition independently. There were about 40 of us all over from Estonia and some people from the bus companies’ boards, too.
The submarine Lembitu seemed to be most fascinating for the bus drivers, its vintage technical quirks were the topic of the day.

The fun morning at the Seaplane Harbour finished with a delicious lunch at the restaurant MARU and then we were off to Tallink Spa and Conference Hotel.
At the cigar bar Fidel we received sweet treats and energising dose of caffeine, and got to discuss current and relevant topics like pays, technology and line schedules.

After a couple of hours of intense brainwork we headed towards the relaxing pools and saunas of the hotel. Time flew by at the soothing saunas and pools. I experienced the bus drivers’ love for hot sauna first hand. But, I survived the human trial and I am still a bus driver. I am also looking forward to future association outings.”
