Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Finnish bus drivers association

The Finnish bus drivers association Tilausajokuljettajat ry unites more than 1,500 bus drivers. This year they celebrated their 25th anniversary and the EBÜ delegation was also invited to the formal event that took place in Uusikaupunki. This was the first time in the history of Tilausajokuljettajat ry when foreign colleagues visited their official meeting.

With the help of our Finnish colleagues we reached Uusikaupunki from the Helsinki port by the evening of Friday 13.

Next morning after the breakfast the formal part of the event began, where our three-person delegation also had the honour to participate. After we had handed over our gift the meeting continued with the general agenda – the activities of the previous year were analysed and new goals set for the coming year. At the end of the meeting the long-time association members were thanked.

After lunch the Finnish bus drivers outing continued in a more informal atmosphere – we had a beer tasting at a local brewery and a field trip to the local car manufacture museum.

Uusikaupunki is a very small town and for decades the car manufacture has been the main employer of the local people. Over different time periods Saabs, Talbots, Ladas and Porsches have been assembled there. Now, Mercedes A class cars roll out of the factory. The number of exhibits was impressive and it enabled to travel back in time to see how the models have evolved.

After the car museum we got to admire magic performed by the magician Pete Poskiparta.

The anniversary event ended with a formal dinner and on Sunday we headed back home.

We are very grateful to our Finnish colleagues for the fun weekend!
