Cruise to Sweden – drawing conclusions and making plans for the new year
At the beginning of March, the board of Estonian Bus Drivers Association along with regional managers went for a joint outing to summarise last year’s activities and discuss the actions for the coming year.
To shut out the everyday troubles completely, the group moved across the sea to Sweden. On Wednesday evening the ship called Romantika took the 10-member EBDA group on board and sailing to Stockholm began.
At the same time, the Estonian Transport and Road Workers Trade Union’s board had a similar event on the same ship, and since some EBDA members also belong to the Transport and Road Workers Trade Union, it was possible to hear also about their activities and plans.
After the meeting of ETRWA and a delicious dinner, the EBDA board gathered into the ships conference room to start making plans for the coming year.
Two EBDA outings were planned for the coming year. To expand the awareness it is time to go and see how the neighbours are doing – towards the end of May an outing to Valmiera bus park in Latvia and sometime in September a trip to a bus factory in Finland. The first event is planned as a two-day outing and the second one for one day. The topics of involving bus drivers from other bus companies into our association’s activities and notifying the elderly bus drivers about our events were also discussed.
The evening continued with the informal programme which included entertainment, karaoke, celebrating a recent birthday and a successful participation in the ship lottery.
The next morning Stockholm welcomed us with sunshine and spring – part of the group spent the day meeting with the Swedish transportation trade union, other part went to the Vaasa museum to see the famous ship themselves.
Later, as we all gathered to the ship, it was clear that everyone had had a nice day and the sailing back home could start.
